Joining Forces to Shape the Health Care of Tomorrow

Realizing Cerner’s vision of “a seamless, connected world where everyone thrives” requires us to work with many stakeholders—patients, clinicians, providers, researchers, and most notably, government. Cerner Government Services (CGS) is at the forefront of public health as an integral partner helping federal health agencies modernize health care.

CGS connects with our federal clients to understand their challenges and deliver solutions that accurately meet the needs of their unique missions. We provide dedicated support, consulting services and data intelligence, so they can better manage population health and health care operations.

Cerner Government Services (CGS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Cerner Corporation, is transforming how the government delivers health care by bringing the best of its commercial practices, breakthrough innovation and global experience to serve the unique missions of its federal military and civilian health clients.

Our intelligent, secure solutions in clinical and population health management, open platforms and leading-edge services and technology are helping federal health organizations deliver smarter, better, more connected care for individuals and communities.

Department of Defense and Department of Veterans Affairs: Establishing a Lifetime of Seamless Care

In 2015, as part of the Leidos Partnership for Defense Health, CGS won the trust of the largest U.S. federal agency to bring Cerner Millennium to the Department of Defense (DoD).

In 2018, our momentum grew as CGS was selected to bring a completely integrated health record system and population health solutions to more than nine million Veterans. Together, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the DoD programs represent the most comprehensive health system modernization in history.

The patient is at the center of our mission. CGS is leading the transformation of the electronic health record system across the DoD and VA that will provide one longitudinal health record for each military active-duty personnel and Veteran. This historic effort will enable VA, DoD and community providers to access the right data, at the right place, at the right time to deliver better, more informed care.

Even during this uncertain time, while our partners have been intently focused on combatting the COVID-19 pandemic, our work has continued, and we have achieved critical milestones keeping us on track. When complete, each Service member, Veteran and family member beneficiary will be positioned for a lifetime of seamless care.

Cerner Government Advisory Board

Cerner understands we cannot solve health care challenges for federal agencies alone. It will take collaboration with outside experts and influencers to enhance Cerner’s experience and help us develop leading-edge solutions and innovations.

Cerner Government Services has established a diverse group of experts and thought leaders under the Cerner Government Advisory Board to provide direction on development, sustainment and outreach within the federal government, health care industry, Veteran and military communities, and service organizations.

Cerner is building relationships with Veteran service and military family organizations that align with Cerner values and are making a real impact at the national, regional and local levels. Through these strategic partnerships, we seek to advance the progress our Cerner Government Services’ clients are making on behalf of Veterans, Service members and their families—ultimately make a real and lasting difference in people’s lives. Quite simply, we want to give back to the community and stakeholders we have the privilege to serve.

Elizabeth Dole Foundation

Elizabeth Dole Foundation empowers, supports, and honors our nation’s 5.5 million military caregivers; the spouses, parents, family members, and friends who care for America’s wounded, ill, or injured Veterans.

Founded by Senator Elizabeth Dole in 2012, the Foundation adopts a comprehensive approach in its advocacy, working with leaders in the public, private, nonprofit and faith communities to recognize military caregivers’ service and promote their well-being.

The mission of the Elizabeth Dole Foundation is to strengthen and empower America’s military caregivers and their families by raising public awareness, driving research, championing policy, and leading collaborations that make a significant impact on their lives.

HillVets

HillVets is a community of Veterans, Service members, and their supporters interested in governance, international affairs, policy and politics. They strive to open doors for their members and to provide them with contacts, education, and resources to continue positive career progression.

Their mission is to serve the community of Veterans, Service members, and supporters in the Nation’s Capital with opportunity, mentorship, housing, peer support, and training in their pursuit of continued service in government.

Life Aid Research Institute

Life Aid Research Institute raises money to provide military Veterans and first responders with targeted and personalized mental health treatments. Life Aid studies new technologies and whole health therapies in order to treat the health of the brain, reduce mental health symptoms and prevent suicide in military Veterans and first responders.

Cerner joined the Life Aid Research Institute in March 2020 as the founding sponsor. Together we play a critical role in reducing suicide and engaging Veterans and first responders before they are in crisis, receiving the mental health services they have earned. By bringing together these two communities, their families and caregivers, we are re-forging the bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood often lost after leaving active duty.

Military Family Advisory Network [MFAN]

Cerner is the sponsor of the Military Family Advisory Network (MFAN) 2019 survey on the state of military families in the United States. MFAN, a trusted and respected organization in DoD communities, is known for providing valued research for policy makers and legislators with the purpose of improving services and outcomes for modern military families. In July, MFAN will release the most rigorous, comprehensive understanding of the needs of military and veteran families in areas impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic such as financial readiness, mental health, food insecurity, moving and housing, utilization of telehealth options, and intimate partner violence.

Cerner’s partnership with MFAN will help inform our research and programmatic efforts within our broader suicide prevention initiative. In addition to Cerner, supporting sponsors include Deloitte, Humana, PenFed Foundation, Prudential, Wounded Warrior Project and the USAA Educational Foundation.
